Well here is a little bit about me ( I always like to know a little about people)
I currently live in Bournemouth with my husband Grant, cat Pixie, rabbit Mi-Mi and guinea pig George. Im originally from a small town in the North East called Redcar.
( Bet you have never heard of it!)
I attended Cleveland College of art and design where I studdied Theatre Craft including Prop, Costume and Set design.
I then moved to Bournemouth to study Costume Designing and making for 3 years at Bournemouth Arts Institute, where I graduated with a BA in Costume for the stage and screen.
I currently work full time with Adults with Learning Dificulties, which I love! Never a dull day!
Having made my first bear in 2007 ( from a kit, to celebrate my niece's arrival) I quickly realised that bear making is a strange and rewarding thing to do. As with painting it is great to create something that moves or inspires some one but to create something you can hold, move and feel is quite different and definitely addictive. Also the thought that this character might become someones best friend, see the world or inspire something themselves is quite a thought in itself.
So now I make bears when I can. I am still new to this craft but know already that I will be doing this for a long time! I aim to only get better and contine to master the skill required for a complete bear! ( Noses and ears any one?)
In 2008 I was over the moon to be placed first in the new bear maker category of the British Bear Artist Award, along with this I have also been featured in Teddy Bear Club international a few times, which was a real dream come true!
